  • 📣 See Eastside and Seattle Protests 2025 for up-to-date opportunities

For the Week of May 26, 2025

🎙️May 26, 2025 Weekly Actions Audio – available for when you’re on the go

🔷 A National No Kings Protest day has been called for June 14th. We’re taking to the streets nationwide. We’re not gathering to feed Trump’s ego. We’re building a movement that leaves him behind. We’re showing up everywhere he isn’t—to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings.

Indivisible Eastside is hosting NO KINGS Eastside/Kirkland starting with a March and ending with a Rally. Sign up HERE so we know how many to expect. We need volunteers! Please sign up HERE if you can help. Use code ‘rally’ for access.

🔷 Check out this great music video, “Indivisible,” by Steve Elci and Friends. “Yes, we are being challenged, but together we are all engaged in doing something about it!” We hope this inspires your activism with us!

🔷 An important thing for these times is to get more people involved and engaged. Indivisible has put out this document “Breaking the Fourth Wall” to guide us in how to convince more people to get activated. These conversations are hard, but they give some great tips on how to do it.

🔷 Come learn about digital security for political activists Saturday, June 7 from 3-5 pm at the Redmond Library! This 2-hour workshop will build on the presentation at the March IE in-person meeting, including deeper dives into various aspects of digital security, specific recommendations and action items, and opportunities to get hands-on support from fellow IE members. Space is limited, so register to attend.

Here are your 2 actions and Bright Spots.

✊ Action 1 – Phonebank to Stop the Trump Tax Scam

    From: Indivisible via Mobilize

The Republicans in the House were able to narrowly pass their horrendous budget bill using a process called Reconciliation. The bill is now in the Senate where they need to either pass exactly the same bill, or they will pass another bill that will have to go to the house again for their agreement. Indivisible is helping voters in key states call their senators and demand they reject this dangerous bill. This is the same type of pressure we applied back in 2017 that helped stop Republicans from dismantling the ACA.

We can block this bill in the Senate—or force changes that send it back to the House, where it faces an even tougher path. Indivisible is holding phone banks every Wednesday and Thursday 8-9:30 am PST throughout June. It’s a great way to start your day!

Sign up HERE to make some calls!

If you’re interested in phone banking but you’re not ready to jump in just yet — you want more training, practice, or familiarity with the tech and the process — we hope you’ll check out their upcoming training.

Join us for an introduction to phone banking on Thursday, May 29 at 2 pm PDT to learn what phone banking is all about, and how we’re going to use it to protect Medicaid, SNAP, and other vital programs.

✊ Action 2 – Submit your concern about ‘Waste, Fraud and Abuse.’ Please!

    From: Chop Wood, Carry Water

Beginning the first week of June, events are planned in the Washington D.C. area in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Army. While planning started last year, the recent focus has been more on “Trump’s parade” than on the anniversary of the military.

The U.S. Army is bringing 6,500 troops into Washington, along with 150 vehicles and 50 aircraft for the celebration. Cost estimates range from $25 to $45 million and don’t include the cost of cleanup. Despite precautions, tanks rolling down Constitution Avenue on June 14 could require millions in street repairs. The Army says they will pay for any damage, but since we fund the army, we are paying for it.

Critics have called a parade an authoritarian display of power that is wasteful, especially as Trump slashes costs throughout the federal government. The Government Accounting Office (GAO) defines waste as that which “squanders money or resources.” We can celebrate 250 years of the military without focusing on a president who never served in the military.

    Complaints can be submitted anonymously.

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a citizen from Washington.

I’m reporting waste, fraud and abuse. The Army had planned a celebration for their 250th anniversary. Since the Army is skilled in logistics and planning, I assumed they had identified the costs for their planned events. Now, with the parade, costs are listed as 25 to 45 million dollars, and since cleanup is not included, the costs are unknown. This cost is borne by taxpayers, while providing no benefit to the American people. It is blatant squandering of ‘money and resources.’ Please focus on what the military had planned. Skip the parade.
