☑ Lobbying State Legislators (10)

👉 The Legislative Session starts January 14th! With a Blue Trifecta in Washington State this promises to be a productive session.  There are a number of upcoming opportunities to Lobby State Legislators, to learn more about state government, and to help Indivisible with research for lobbying efforts.

1) Many organizations host Lobby Days in Olympia. We know of three, so far:

  • Feb 15 – Washington Indivisible Lobby Day is being planned by a newly formed “Washington Indivisible Coalition”. Watch the weekly Actions Email for details.

2) The newly formed Washington State Indivisible Coalition (WaSIC) is looking for people to join their legislative team, specifically to help track bills as they work their way through the state Legislature. Basically, you’ll sign up for specific bills and fill in information in a shared Google Sheet when things change, and alert the coalition if actions need to be taken to draw more attention to the bill. Email Hanna F if you want to be part of this research effort, and she’ll add you to the WaSIC Slack Workspace where the planning is being done. Or, ask to be added to the WaSIC Facebook Group to keep up with their efforts but not be part of the research.

3) Indivisible Kirkland is tracking six priority ISSUES – Climate, Gun Safety, Health Care/Reproductive Rights, Immigration Rights, Social Justice, Democracy. Here is a Job Description of that work. Use the contact on that form if you’re interested, tell them IE sent you and let us know you’ll be helping them out!
