- Session 2: How to Make it Happen – July 30, 5-6:30 pm PDT
- Session 3: What Now? – August 13, 5-6:30 pm PDT
Here are your 2 Actions and Bright Spots.
✊ Action 1 – Tell your city and King County councilmembers: No Secret Police
From Indivisible’s Blue State Defiance
It may not be much longer until the rise of masked law enforcement and ICE overreach is an Eastside emergency, not just a Seattle or federal one. Masked, unidentifiable officers have no place in our communities. City and county officials have the power to act—by banning secret police tactics, cutting off ICE cooperation, and strengthening sanctuary protections. Use the script and email below to demand your local leaders step up and protect your community.
Action A: Contact your city council members and King County council member.
City council contacts:
- Bellevue City Council Email & City Manager
- Issaquah City Council Email & Mayor
- Kirkland City Council Email (Mayor is included in council)
- Redmond City Council & Mayor Email
Eastside King County Councilmembers: district map

- District 6 – Claudia Balducci, Council Chair 206-477-1006 | claudia.balducci@kingcounty.gov
- District 9 – Reagan Dunn, Council Vice Chair 206-477-1009 | reagan.dunn@kingcounty.gov

Subject: Take Local Action to Stop Secret Police Tactics and Protect Immigrant Communities
Dear [Council-member or Mayor/Manager] [Last Name],
I’m reaching out because our city/county must take urgent steps to respond to the rise in masked law enforcement, ICE overreach, and the targeting of immigrants and political dissenters, including students and lawful residents.
As a local official, you have real power to protect our communities. I’m urging you to:
- Pass a city ordinance requiring visible identification for all law enforcement operating within city limits, including federal agents.
- Prohibit local police from cooperating with or facilitating ICE operations, especially those that occur without warrants or clear justification.
- Work with school districts, universities, and hospitals to establish and/or double down on local sanctuary policies and rapid response systems when federal agents attempt enforcement actions.
The rise of secret policing and disappearances is not just a federal issue; it’s a local emergency. Our city should be a place of safety, not surveillance and fear.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
Action B: At our No Kings event we highlighted local immigrant support organizations that are doing the hard work with limited resources. Thanks to the generous members who have donated to IE, we have decided to donate to those organizations. You can continue to support them financially as well! Donation links are HERE.
✊ Action 2 – Don’t wait, get your paperwork and communities ready for voting now!
We can expect the Trump administration to throw up as many voting obstacles as possible, starting with the Executive Order on voting rights and the introduction of the SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act in Congress, and many states are revising their own requirements. Let’s ensure now that as many people as possible a) are registered to vote, and b) have their identification documents in order so that they can vote in future elections, no matter what changes federal laws may impose on state election processes.
Spread the word to all eligible voters in your networks and communities to be sure they have at least one of the following documents proving U. S. citizenship before/if it becomes necessary, even if they are already registered to vote:
- A state-issued Real ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card, such as an enhanced driver’s license
- A valid U.S. passport
- A Certificate of Citizenship (for those born outside the U.S. to a U.S. citizen)
- A Naturalization Certificate
- A U.S. birth certificate as long as it bears your same full name or is accompanied by current secondary documentation, such as a marriage certificate (a birth certificate will not work for those who have changed their birth name, such as many married women) or other name-change certificate
- Certain tribal cards/Bureau of Indian Affairs Card Numbers
We recommend that you do not postpone the process of applying for or correcting any form of identification, as burdened government services may be flooded leading up to election periods. Having the above documentation at the ready and reviewed for accuracy ensures we are all ready to vote!
