📣 See Eastside and Seattle Protests 2025 for up-to-date opportunities
For the Week of September 1, 2025
🎙️Sep 1, 2025 Weekly Actions Audio – available for when you’re on the go
đź”· We hope you are reading this early and are able to join one of the local “Workers Over Billionaires” Labor Day rallies being held in Seattle and Bothell TODAY, Sept 1. People will be turning out once more in hundreds of events across the country to speak up for working people. Each time that we turn out, in events large and small, we build on the power of peaceful protest, make clear that huge numbers of voters are against the dismantling of democracy, and inspire others to speak up.
đź”· Join Indivisible Eastside at our next general meeting on Sat Sept 13, 3-4:30 pm. New member welcome starts at 2:30, then at 3 pm we will feature a presentation about what local police can and cannot do with regard to the federal regimes’ immigration crackdown and abductions, and ways you can help our local immigrant community. Please register to attend using the access code ‘indivisible.’
Here are your 2 Actions and Bright Spots.
✊ Action 1 – Distribute Signs of Solidarity to your area businesses to support immigrants and thwart ICE
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are indiscriminately rounding up and detaining immigrants, including those here legally, and sowing fear among residents and workers. This is true across the country in places from New Jersey to Southern California, and includes the recent arrests of firefighters in Washington state.
The No Kings organization has created Signs of Solidarity, a toolkit for local activists to build visible, united resistance in their communities. By visiting businesses and providing signs and information, we can create safe places for immigrants and community awareness.
The toolkit provides downloadable signs to print and distribute to local businesses. Solidarity signs include messages such as “Immigrants Are Welcome Here,” and “We Stand With Immigrant Families.” The signs communicate that the community opposes the Trump administration’s authoritarian actions. Shelter signs allow business owners to protect their workers by creating a private area that is designated as employee-only and does not allow ICE to enter without a warrant.
The toolkit also provides scripts, printing information, and a tool to report back after visiting businesses. Grab a friend (or many!) and join the Signs of Solidarity effort in your community.
✊ Action 2 – Lock down your credit and accounts to avoid DOGE-enabled identity theft
Confirming our ongoing concerns, a Social Security Administration whistle-blower – a chief data officer – filed a complaint that DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) has failed to take basic security precautions with our data. The complaint says that the data (full names, addresses, birth dates, and Social Security numbers) of hundreds of millions of Americans was uploaded to an insecure cloud server in June, leaving it vulnerable to hackers. “Should bad actors gain access to this cloud environment, Americans may be susceptible to widespread identity theft, may lose vital health care and food benefits, and the government may be responsible for reissuing every American a new Social Security number at great cost,” says the complaint. It is a prudent precaution for individuals, including minors, to freeze their credit with all three credit bureaus to prevent future identity theft.
- Place a credit freeze for free with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion online, by phone, or by mail. Each agency also offers one free credit report per year to allow individuals to review their personal credit history and check for issues or errors.
- Changing passwords and adding two-factor authentication are also wise precautions to avoid fraud.
Candidate Corner: Kurt Dresner for Kirkland City Council Pos. 7
From IE member Jennie Jaeger
Flip a seat by canvassing for Kurt Dresner in Kirkland!
The fight for a compassionate community begins in our local government. We can flip a Kirkland City Council seat by electing Kurt Dresner, a candidate who’s genuinely committed to housing affordability, transit, and the vital services that strengthen our Eastside community.
- 5 of 7 Kirkland City Council Members, including Kirkland’s Mayor and Deputy Mayor, and more than 38 legislative and regional elected leaders.
- All the local and regional Democratic organizations.
- Sierra Club of WA, National Organization of Women of WA, numerous labor unions, and Progressive Voters Guide.
Action: Join us for canvassing!
Talking to voters works! We saw voter turnout for Kurt surge in neighborhoods where we knocked on doors before the primary – but we need your help to win.
Even introverts like me can be great canvassers. It’s all about listening to concerns – it’s not about memorizing anything. Kurt will train you, and you can work in pairs until you are comfortable. Aside from making donations, canvassing is the most important way to help Kurt reach voters and to beat the incumbent!
Register here to be informed about these and more canvassing events:

Harriet Hageman (R-WY) was ruthlessly booed at a town hall as she doubled down on backing Trump; and Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) had to cancel a speech in her home state after only 8 people showed up to hear her.
